Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt, one of the biggest names in streaming, has shared an emotional update with his fans, and it’s left the community rallying behind him. Asmongold explained that his father was first hospitalized for pneumonia earlier this year. What seemed like a rough but manageable situation quickly escalated when further tests revealed acute liver failure, which was later diagnosed as pancreatic cancer. The news came as a shock not just to Asmongold but also to his viewers, who have followed his personal life for years. Treatment began, but complications appeared almost immediately. Asmongold described one night when his father was struggling to breathe so badly that he chose to sleep on the floor beside his bed, just in case something went wrong. He later shared that doctors even considered rehospitalization after his father’s blood pressure dropped to dangerously low levels.

Despite everything, Asmongold said there have been small improvements here and there, but the overall situation remains uncertain. In his own words, “my dad’s health is really bad, and I have to take time off to deal with it.” For a creator who has built his entire career around being live almost daily, this was not an easy choice. He admitted there’s nothing he would rather do than continue streaming, but he also made it clear: his obligation to his father comes first.
That means there’s no clear timeline for when fans will see him back online. He explained that the hiatus could last months, or potentially longer, depending on how things develop. “I don’t have a timeframe or an expectation,” he told fans, “because of how uncertain things are right now.” Instead, he promised to update the community as he learns more himself.
The reaction from the gaming and streaming community has been overwhelmingly supportive. Messages of encouragement have poured in across social media, with fans and fellow creators alike reminding him that he’s doing the right thing.
