Bo Horvat Welcomes Baby Girl as New NHL Season Nears
Former Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat has a lot more to celebrate this September than just the start of another NHL season. The 30-year-old forward, now a key piece of the New York Islanders, shared some joyful family news over the weekend. On Sunday morning, Horvat announced on Instagram that he and his wife, Holly, had welcomed their third child, a baby girl named Lainey Lynne Horvat.
According to his post, Lainey arrived safe and healthy, joining older siblings Gunnar, born in 2020, and Tulsa, born in 2022. Horvat included touching family photos in his announcement, showing Gunnar and Tulsa holding their newborn sister, along with a sweet moment captured on the hospital bed. It was clear from the images and message that this was a special moment for the entire Horvat family.

For Horvat, the timing of this news adds another layer of excitement as he enters his 13th NHL training camp and his third full season with the Islanders. Since being traded from Vancouver in 2023, he has steadily established himself in New York, putting together some of the best numbers of his career. He scored a personal-best 33 goals and 68 points during the 2023–24 season, then followed it up with a strong 57-point campaign last year. While the Islanders missed the playoffs in 2025, Horvat has continued to be a reliable offensive force and will be counted on again as the new season approaches.
Meanwhile, the Vancouver Canucks have experienced ups and downs since Horvat’s departure. The year after he was traded, Vancouver surged to a division title and came within a single game of advancing to the conference final. But last season, the team fell short, missing the playoffs by just six points. Despite that, Horvat’s legacy in Vancouver remains intact. Fans gave him a loud, heartfelt ovation during his first game back at Rogers Arena, a sign of the deep respect and appreciation they still carry for their former captain.
As for Horvat, life off the ice seems to be fueling his motivation on it. With three children at home now and a fresh season around the corner, he’ll be balancing fatherhood with the demands of being a top-line NHL forward. On top of that, he has been given another major opportunity: an invitation to Hockey Canada’s Olympic Orientation Camp, which could put him in line for a spot at the next Winter Games.
So, while the Islanders get ready to open camp and the Canucks prepare for another shot at playoff contention, Horvat’s biggest win this September has already arrived. His family has grown once again, and the hockey community—both in Vancouver and New York—is sending congratulations and best wishes to Bo, Holly, and their three children as they embrace this new chapter together.
