Dallas ICE Facility Shooting Leaves Multiple Victims and Suspect Dead
Early Wednesday morning in Dallas, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility became the scene of a terrifying active shooter situation. According to police, three people being held in ICE custody were shot, and at least one victim has died. The suspect, described as a white male, had taken a sniper position on a rooftop with a rifle. As law enforcement agents closed in, the gunman turned the weapon on himself and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Emergency vehicles quickly flooded the area near I-35E and Empire Central, shutting down traffic in both directions. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem addressed the situation on social media, confirming there were multiple injuries and fatalities, while urging patience as information continues to develop.

The attack marks at least the third time this year that ICE or Customs and Border Protection facilities in Texas have been targeted by gunfire. In July, a coordinated attack on the Prairieland Detention Center near Fort Worth left a police officer shot in the neck, though he survived. Just days later, a man in tactical gear opened fire on a Border Patrol facility in McAllen, resulting in a deadly shootout with law enforcement.
Adding to the tension, the Dallas ICE facility has faced previous security threats in recent months. In late August, a man was arrested after allegedly arriving at the field office with a backpack he claimed contained a bomb. He even displayed what he said was a detonator strapped to his wrist, prompting a shelter-in-place order until a bomb squad could secure the area.
The repeated targeting of these facilities has drawn national attention to the risks faced by employees, detainees, and civilians connected to immigration enforcement sites. For those who live and work nearby, Wednesday’s incident was another chilling reminder of how quickly violence can erupt.
