Dancing With the Stars Returns for Its 20th Anniversary Season
It’s back, bigger than ever, and celebrating a milestone— Dancing with the Stars has officially returned for its 34th season, which also marks the show’s 20th anniversary. The premiere is being held on Tuesday, September 16, live across ABC and Disney+, with the added bonus of next-day streaming available on Hulu. Fans everywhere are already buzzing, because this season promises high-energy performances, fresh faces, and, of course, that coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
The ballroom is ready, and stepping onto the stage are 14 celebrities, all eager to prove their moves in front of a live audience. The season opens with a massive, choreographed routine to “Kill the Lights” performed by Whitney Myer, and it’s set by the talented Ray Leeper. On top of that, viewers will also see a brand-new troupe featuring Carter Williams, Hailey Bills, Onye Stevenson, and Jaxon Willard, dancing to Tate McRae’s “Just Keep Watching.” So right from the start, the energy will be off the charts.

The cast is a fun and diverse mix this year. We’ve got Jen Affleck from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives bringing the Salsa with pro partner Jan Ravnik. Hilaria Baldwin is set to Cha Cha with Gleb Savchenko, while Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles is diving into Salsa with Ezra Sosa. Sports, TV, music, and internet stars are all represented—from NBA All-Star Baron Davis showing off a Cha Cha, to TikTok sensation Alix Earle teaming with Val Chmerkovskiy, to Dylan Efron stepping into the spotlight with Daniella Karagach.
The nostalgia factor is strong too—Corey Feldman will bring his rock-and-roll vibe to a Tango with Jenna Johnson, and Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel is tackling a Tango to Kelly Clarkson’s powerhouse anthem “Stronger.” We’ll even see Grammy winner Scott Hoying of Pentatonix fame, wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin, Fifth Harmony alum Lauren Jauregui, and comedian Andy Richter, all ready to trade jokes and stage lights for Cha Chas, Tangos, and Jives.
As always, the competition will be hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough, with the judging panel featuring Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough. Fan votes remain a key part of the show. Viewers in the U.S., its territories, and Canada will be able to cast votes online, and fans in the U.S. can also text in their picks during the live broadcast. The first two weeks of scores and votes will be combined, and that will decide which couples find themselves in jeopardy.
It’s not just about the dancing—it’s about the stories, the nerves, the surprise performances, and the unforgettable moments that have made this show a cultural staple for two decades. With a mix of classic ballroom styles like the Tango, Cha Cha, Salsa, and Jive, this season is already shaping up to be one for the history books.
The ballroom lights are on, the music is loud, and the stars are ready. The only question left is—who will rise to the top and claim that sparkling Mirrorball Trophy?
