Denver Braces for Warm Week with a Few Gusty Storms
Hey everyone, let’s talk about what’s going on with the weather in Denver this week because it’s shaping up to be an interesting mix of warmth and a few gusty surprises. Right now, things are looking mainly dry, but tonight, a few isolated storms could sweep across the Front Range and Eastern Plains. Don’t expect much in terms of rain—these storms are more about blustery winds that could hit anywhere from 40 to 50 miles per hour. By around 10 p.m., these storms are expected to move out, leaving partly cloudy skies for the overnight. Temperatures will drop into the upper 50s early Tuesday morning, so a light jacket might be in order if you’re heading out early.
Tuesday and Wednesday are shaping up to be mostly warm and dry. Highs around the Denver metro area will hit the mid to upper 80s, with the Eastern Plains even flirting with low 90s. This warmth is being driven by a ridge of high pressure, but there’s still just enough moisture in the atmosphere for a few high-based, gusty afternoon storms. Again, most areas are likely to stay dry, so don’t count on much rain.

Looking ahead, a cold front is expected to arrive late Thursday into Friday morning. This front will help cool things down a bit, with daytime highs dropping into the upper 70s to low 80s on Friday. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected as the workweek wraps up, along with a better chance for scattered storms on Friday afternoon and evening.
Through the weekend, seasonal temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s are expected to stick around, offering a nice, comfortable end to the week. For the surrounding areas, the forecast is similar. Places like Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Canon City will see partly cloudy skies with a small chance of spotty afternoon showers or thunderstorms. Mountain areas will experience warm days in the 70s to low 80s with widely scattered rain showers possible in the afternoon. Winds will generally be light, though gusts up to 20 mph can’t be ruled out in some spots.
So, overall, late summer warmth continues across Denver and much of southern Colorado this week. While most of the week will stay dry and pleasant, a few gusty storms tonight and Friday’s increased chance for thunderstorms are things to keep an eye on. Just remember, it’s a week to enjoy warm afternoons, partly cloudy skies, and the occasional rumble of a storm rolling through.
