When you think of The Amazing Race , you picture fierce competition, drama, and contestants fighting tooth and nail for the win. But this year’s Celebrity Edition of The Amazing Race Australia has turned that idea on its head—largely thanks to Rob “Millsy” Mills and his fiancée Georgie Tunny. Instead of ruthless rivalries, there’s been laughter, teamwork, and even a little rule-breaking that had host Beau Ryan shaking his head.

So here’s the story. Beau Ryan, who’s hosted the series for years, once warned Georgie that racing alongside a romantic partner was a terrible idea. He told her straight up, “Never do it with your partner—you probably won’t survive.” That was back in 2023. Fast forward two years, and when Georgie was invited to join the show, her immediate reaction was, “Robert, we’re doing it!” Not only did she ignore Beau’s advice, she dragged her soon-to-be husband right into the chaos.

And chaos it was. The pair were thrown into foreign countries, tackling haystacks in Nepal, deciphering routes in Sri Lanka, and hanging maize in Indonesia. But instead of clashing or combusting under the stress, they actually found themselves getting stronger as a couple. Rob admitted he was nervous about Georgie’s resilience, but he couldn’t have been prouder. “She never quit once. Not one challenge. She just pushed through everything,” he said, beaming like the proud partner he is.

The funny part? Millsy and Georgie, along with other contestants like Stephen Curry, Brendan Fevola, and Ed Kavalee, got along so well that producers had to step in. At one point, they were told, “Stop helping each other out, this is a competition!” But camaraderie seemed impossible to resist. Rob laughed as he recalled everyone pitching in when tasks became too wild. “We can’t help it—we all just love each other,” he admitted. Clearly, reality TV villains were nowhere to be found in this cast.

That doesn’t mean there was no drama at all. Word spread that one pair of contestants was disqualified after breaching the show’s code of conduct during a night off. Rumors pointed to SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton and his brother, but nothing has been confirmed on record. When asked, Millsy simply said he and Georgie were both “very disappointed” with the actions of those involved. For a guy as easygoing as Millsy, that speaks volumes.

Beyond the antics and unexpected exits, the race became something deeply personal for Rob and Georgie. With their careers keeping them apart for much of the last two years—Rob touring, Georgie tied up with The Project —the show gave them a chance to reconnect. “It was the longest, most concentrated time we’d spent together in years,” Georgie reflected. Instead of breaking them, the pressure built them up. “We came out ten times stronger,” Rob added.

At the end of the day, they weren’t the cutthroat duo reality producers may have envisioned. Instead, they were the “nice nerds,” as Rob put it. And maybe, just maybe, that’s the twist that makes this season worth watching—competitors who remembered that kindness travels just as far as competition.
