Viral Video at Sutter Health Pesetas Urgent Care Sparks Outrage

Over Labor Day weekend, a disturbing video filmed at Sutter Health’s Pesetas Urgent Care in Santa Barbara quickly spread across social media, drawing anger and disbelief from the public. The video, originally posted on TikTok by a former healthcare worker named Angie, showed clinic staff posing and joking around what appeared to be bodily fluids left on an exam chair.

In the slideshow-style post, several employees in scrubs could be seen laughing, sticking their tongues out, and even striking exaggerated poses next to the stained exam paper. Captions on the images referred to these fluids as “sweet gifts” from patients, with phrases like “all shades and opacities” displayed across the screen. In one particularly unsettling photo, a staff member squatted on top of the exam table while others stood nearby, smiling as if the situation were humorous.

The video rapidly went viral, gaining thousands of views and likes before being deleted. Screenshots, however, had already been captured and shared widely, making their way onto Reddit, Instagram, and Facebook. On the Santa Barbara Reddit thread alone, more than 500 comments appeared within a single day. Many people described the behavior as “dehumanizing,” “unprofessional,” and “unethical.” Some even went so far as to say the incident made them question whether they could ever trust the clinic with their care again.

Adding fuel to the backlash, it was discovered that Angie’s account had previously posted similar content mocking patients, including one image of a filthy bathroom stall. As public anger grew, Sutter Health’s official Instagram account was flooded with questions and criticism, leading to deleted comments and a surge of one-star reviews on Yelp.

By Tuesday morning, Sutter Health had released a formal statement confirming that the incident took place at the Pesetas Urgent Care location. The company emphasized that the person who originally posted the video was no longer employed at the time of its release. However, other staff members shown in the images have since been placed on administrative leave while a full investigation is carried out.

In their statement, Sutter Health stressed that patient dignity and trust are central to their mission, calling the post “deeply concerning” and “unacceptable.” They explained that strict policies exist to protect patient privacy and that any behavior undermining those standards is taken seriously.

While the investigation continues, the video remains a stark reminder of how quickly trust can be damaged when healthcare workers are seen mocking the very people they are meant to serve. For many in the Santa Barbara community, the incident has left a lasting sense of disappointment, frustration, and concern about professionalism in healthcare settings.
