Week 3 NFL Sunday Hit by Major Injuries, Bosa and Lamb Among Key Losses
It was a tough Sunday across the NFL in Week 3, as injuries piled up and left several teams scrambling to adjust. From star receivers to defensive anchors, the list of players who couldn’t finish their games kept growing, and it has left fans and coaches alike holding their breath.
Let’s start with Arizona, where Cardinals running back James Conner was carted off in the third quarter with an ankle injury. His absence was immediately felt, and his status moving forward will be closely watched. In Chicago, Bears tight end Colston Loveland left in the second quarter with a hip issue and did not return. Cincinnati also took a hit, losing running back Samaje Perine to a thumb injury and guard Dalton Risner to a calf problem.
Cleveland’s offensive line was shaken up when Dawand Jones exited early with a knee injury, while in Dallas, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was ruled out with an ankle injury. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones tried to ease concerns afterward, saying doctors believe it’s not as serious as it could have been, but losing Lamb at all is a blow. Adding to the Cowboys’ woes, defensive stars Trevon Diggs and another lineman both went down in the second half.

The injury bug didn’t stop there. Green Bay lost right tackle Zach Tom and guard Aaron Banks to oblique and groin injuries. Houston’s secondary took a hit as Derek Stingley Jr. was sidelined with an abdomen issue. Indianapolis saw both wideout Alec Pierce and corner Kenny Moore ruled out. Jacksonville’s Dyami Brown, Las Vegas tight end Michael Mayer, and Chargers running back Najee Harris also left their games, Harris needing to be carted off.
In Minnesota, defensive tackle Javon Hargrave was forced out with a chest injury. The Jets had linebacker Quincy Williams ruled out with a shoulder problem, while corner Sauce Gardner was briefly evaluated for a head injury but managed to return. Philadelphia lost Lane Johnson and Adoree’ Jackson, both unable to finish.
For San Francisco, the biggest headline came when defensive end Nick Bosa exited with a knee injury in the first quarter. After being listed as questionable, he was officially downgraded to out at halftime. Cameras caught him signaling a thumbs down to fans as he headed to the sideline medical tent, a gesture that said it all. Bosa had already notched a sack in each of the first two games this season, so his loss is a major concern.
Elsewhere, Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans tweaked his hamstring and didn’t finish, and Washington saw Terry McLaurin leave with a quad injury while safety Will Harris was ruled out with what’s believed to be a fractured fibula.
Overall, Week 3 turned into a war of attrition, with nearly every game marked by injuries to impact players. While some setbacks may prove minor, others could alter the course of entire seasons. For now, teams and fans are waiting anxiously for updates as the league turns the page to Week 4.
