DWTS Halloween Night Brings Spooky Fun, a Surprise Injury, and a Shocking Elimination
It was a thrilling Halloween night on Dancing With the Stars Season 34, filled with spooky performances, unexpected twists, and a bittersweet farewell. The ballroom transformed into a haunted spectacle as the remaining contestants danced their hearts out in Week 7’s “Halloween Night” episode. But amid all the fog, cobwebs, and monster mash moments, one pair’s journey came to an end — Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik were eliminated from the competition.
The night began with plenty of excitement and even a special return. Two-time Mirrorball champion Cheryl Burke made a comeback, not as a dancer this time, but as a guest judge. She joined regular judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli, promising to bring “constructive and encouraging” feedback to the contestants. Fans were thrilled to see Burke back in the ballroom, adding an extra touch of nostalgia to the festive night.

However, the evening wasn’t without its share of challenges. Actress Elaine Hendrix, known for her charm and sharp performances, was forced to sit out after suffering an injury during rehearsals. Her dance was still evaluated — based on rehearsal footage — but her absence was definitely felt on the dance floor. Despite the setback, Hendrix and her partner Alan Bersten managed to secure a respectable score of 32 out of 40.
As the competition heated up, the much-anticipated “Dance Monster-thon” took center stage — a marathon-style dance-off where all the couples performed simultaneously, while the judges eliminated pairs one by one. In the end, Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas emerged victorious, earning an extra five points to their total score.
By the end of the night, Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy topped the leaderboard with a near-perfect 39 out of 40, while Robert Irwin and Witney Carson followed closely with 38. Unfortunately, Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik’s combined judges’ scores and viewer votes placed them at the bottom, sealing their fate for elimination.
The show’s Halloween theme brought plenty of creativity — eerie costumes, haunting choreography, and a lively audience decked out for the occasion. It was a perfect mix of fun and fright, all wrapped up in DWTS’s signature sparkle.
Now, with only four weeks left until the finale, the pressure continues to rise. Upcoming theme nights include Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the show’s 20th Birthday Party, and a much-anticipated Prince Night during the semifinals. Dancing With the Stars will crown its Season 34 winner on November 25 during a special three-hour finale.
One thing’s for sure — the Halloween episode reminded everyone why DWTS remains a fan favorite after all these years: it’s emotional, unpredictable, and full of heart, even when the monsters come out to dance.
