Halloween Meets Game 6: Toronto’s Ultimate Party Collision
Halloween in Toronto is already a big deal — spooky costumes, eerie decorations, and a city that loves a good reason to celebrate. But this year, something extra special has been thrown into the mix. The Toronto Blue Jays are playing Game 6 of the World Series on the very same night. That’s right — October 31st is turning into a doubleheader of thrills, where baseball and broomsticks are sharing the spotlight.
At The Cat’s Cradle Sports and Spirits, the usual haunted-house vibe is getting a little sports twist. Owner Barbara MacPhee, who’s famous for transforming her midtown bar into a horror movie set every Halloween, says she’s had to adjust her plans this year. Normally, guests walk into a maze of fake cockroaches, bloody handprints, and creepy karaoke. But now, that’s all being slightly pushed back to make room for the night’s main event — the Jays vs. Dodgers showdown.
MacPhee jokes that it’s a battle of interests in her household: “I’m built on Halloween, and my husband is built on sports. So this day is like a mega-amalgamation of him versus me, pretty much.” Still, she’s managing to juggle both — taking her kids trick-or-treating early, handing out candy, and then racing to the bar to catch the first pitch. If the game runs long, which she dreads after last time’s marathon, she’ll switch back to the spooky fun afterward. “The whole day is going to be chaos from top to bottom,” she admits with a laugh.

Elsewhere in the city, party planners are finding creative ways to merge the two celebrations. YouTubers The Sorry Girls are marking their 15th anniversary with a Halloween bash at Toronto’s Jarvis Mansion. Producer Nina Pikula revealed they’d already rented a TV in anticipation of the Jays making it this far. They’re setting up a quiet “DIY Den” upstairs where guests can craft bracelets or candles while keeping one eye on the game. “We want this to be a part of it,” she said. “It’s such a joyous coincidence that our milestone aligns with one for the city.”
Some, like event organizer Prit Vyas of Club Crawlers , went all in. His “Boo Jays Halloween Night” party at The Pint House — complete with a Jays-gear-only dress code — sold out almost instantly. Even before the Game 3 win that guaranteed a Game 6, tickets were moving fast. Now, the downtown venue is expected to be packed to its 350-person capacity.
For many Torontonians, this Halloween will be one for the books — a night when trick-or-treating, team spirit, and Toronto pride all collide under a full moon. Whether it’s spooky screams or stadium cheers, one thing’s for sure: this city knows how to celebrate, no matter what’s on the lineup.
