So, even before The Witcher Season 4 hits Netflix, fans have been buzzing — and not all of it has been friendly. The big spotlight, of course, is on Liam Hemsworth stepping into the iconic role of Geralt of Rivia, replacing Henry Cavill. Ever since the first teaser dropped, people have been quick to analyze every single detail, especially one controversial line that has divided fans: Geralt yelling, “Let’s f**king move!”

Now, some fans felt that line didn’t sound very Geralt-like. They argued that the Witcher’s trademark calm and stoic demeanor doesn’t really fit with that kind of outburst. But showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who’s been with the series since day one, quickly came to Hemsworth’s defense. She described the line as a “kickass moment,” explaining that, in the context of the scene, it makes complete sense. She said you can’t really judge that line until you see it in the heat of the moment — during a battle where Geralt is protecting someone close to him.

Hissrich also opened up about how this new chapter is different. Geralt, as we’ll find him in Season 4, is no longer the detached monster hunter he once was. Over time, his connections with Yennefer and Ciri have changed him. He’s developed a deeper sense of loyalty, love, and even vulnerability — something the showrunner says Hemsworth captures beautifully. This version of Geralt is more emotional, more human, and, in many ways, more heroic.

Speaking with GamesRadar+ , Hissrich revealed that when Hemsworth showed up on set for the first time, any doubts about the casting vanished almost instantly. She said he brought both the physical strength fans expect from Geralt and a surprising emotional depth that made the role feel renewed rather than replaced. Hemsworth’s Geralt, she noted, isn’t trying to copy Cavill’s interpretation — instead, he’s carving out a version of the character that reflects where Geralt is now: broken, bruised, but still determined.

In Season 4, the stakes are higher than ever. Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are scattered across a war-torn continent, each facing their own battles, both external and internal. Hemsworth himself admitted he was initially hesitant to take on such a massive role but said what drew him in was the emotional challenge — portraying a Geralt who’s wounded but still fighting to protect those he loves.

So while fans may still be divided, the creative team seems confident they’ve made the right call. As Hissrich put it, when Liam first swung that sword and brought both heart and grit to the screen, “we knew we’d made the right choice.” The Witcher Season 4 premieres October 30 on Netflix — and it looks like everyone’s eager to see if the new White Wolf can truly make the role his own.
