BrokenBlade Reflects on G2’s Worlds Exit: “No Regrets, Only Lessons”
G2 Esports’ 2025 League of Legends World Championship run came to an emotional close after a 3-1 defeat against Top Esports (TES). The European squad, the last Western hope in the tournament, carried the pride of EMEA fans but couldn’t quite break through the relentless precision of the Chinese powerhouse. While the result was disappointing, G2’s top laner, Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik, shared a heartfelt reflection on the experience — one filled with pride, sacrifice, and lessons learned.
Speaking with Sheep Esports after the elimination, BrokenBlade admitted that he and his team gave it everything they had. “I think we all played with no regrets,” he said. “That’s the best we could have shown today. We really squeezed everything out of us. I’m proud of the boys.” Despite being visibly emotional, he made it clear that this Worlds journey was a step forward — both personally and for G2 as a team.
Throughout the series, G2 found themselves in promising positions but often faltered during key moments, particularly around the Atakhan fights. BrokenBlade explained that those decisions — to engage too quickly or to hesitate at crucial times — cost them dearly. “We gave them too much respect,” he admitted. “When you play with doubt against great players, you get punished. We made some wrong calls, and that’s how it goes sometimes.”

G2’s loss wasn’t without positives. It marked their deepest Worlds run in years and highlighted how much the roster had developed. BrokenBlade emphasized the growth he witnessed within the team — not just in gameplay, but also in communication and confidence. “This is a roster where I’ve had the most development, both in and outside the game,” he said proudly. “I’m very proud of my team.”
He also touched on the immense personal sacrifices that come with professional esports. “My life basically consists of League of Legends,” he shared. “I’ve sacrificed family time, friends, even time with my girlfriend — everything to be the best player I can be. But it’s worth it. There’s not a single day I regret being a pro player.”
To younger players aspiring to reach the Worlds stage, BrokenBlade offered heartfelt advice: “Everything great comes with a cost, but as long as you enjoy it, it’s worth it. Follow your dreams — it’s possible.”
And to the fans who stood by G2 through every victory and defeat, he expressed sincere gratitude. “Thank you for sticking with us,” he said. “It wasn’t enough this time, but it was a fun ride. Hopefully next year, it’ll be even better.”
For G2, Worlds 2025 ended in heartbreak, but their journey was far from wasted. It was a campaign defined not by defeat, but by resilience, growth, and an unshakable belief in their path forward.
