Burley Idaho Temple Opens Doors, Invites All to Experience Its Peace
The small city of Burley, Idaho, is drawing attention this month for a truly spiritual reason — the grand opening of the Burley Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After nearly three years of construction, this magnificent building has officially opened its doors for public tours, offering everyone, regardless of faith, a rare opportunity to step inside what members of the church consider a house of the Lord.
The public tours began on November 6 and will continue through November 22, 2025, except Sundays. These open houses allow visitors to explore the temple before it is formally dedicated on January 11, 2026. After that date, the temple will be reserved for sacred worship by members of the Church.

Idaho’s Governor Brad Little was among the first to tour the temple, accompanied by local leaders and community members. He praised the experience, emphasizing how meaningful it is for people of all faiths to understand the temple’s purpose. “These tours are so important, especially for those not of our faith,” he said, noting how they help the wider community grasp the temple’s significance across generations.
The temple itself is a striking structure — standing 172 feet tall with a spire that gleams against Idaho’s open skies. Inside, the décor reflects the beauty of the surrounding farmland. Stained-glass windows inspired by potato blossoms, soft gold and cream tones, and local artwork create a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. It’s designed to feel like home, as Idaho Lieutenant Governor Scott Bedke shared: “I’m blown away by the beauty of it and how it feels like home… Everyone should come and see it.”
This temple marks Idaho’s seventh completed temple and will soon become the 212th operating temple worldwide. It’s also a major milestone for the nearly half a million Latter-day Saints who call Idaho home. Elder Steven R. Bangerter, Executive Director of the Temple Department, said the temple fills a long-awaited need. “Members have traveled to Pocatello and Twin Falls for temple worship. Having one in their own community now is deeply meaningful,” he explained.
Local residents have expressed heartfelt excitement. One longtime neighbor, Jolene Graham, who has lived near the temple site for over 30 years, shared her joy in opening its doors to everyone. “Just a glimpse of this house of God, where all are recognized as divine children, will bring peace and hope,” she said.
In every way, the Burley Idaho Temple stands not only as a symbol of faith but also as a reflection of community — a place built to inspire unity, reverence, and a sense of belonging. For now, the invitation is open to all who wish to experience its calm and beauty before it becomes a sacred space of worship in January 2026.
