BYU Basketball Star Kennard Davis Jr. Arrested on DUI Suspicion

Davis, who transferred to BYU from Southern Illinois, had started the first two games of the 2025-26 season and was averaging nine points per game while playing around 27 minutes on the court. Interestingly, he did not participate in BYU’s recent victory over Delaware on Tuesday night, and it is not yet clear whether he traveled with the team to Boston, where the Cougars were scheduled to face No. 3 UConn at TD Garden on Saturday.

The Provo Police Department confirmed that during the investigation, evidence was found to warrant Davis’s arrest for suspected DUI. Janna-Lee Holland, a public information officer with Provo Police, stated that a detailed report on the incident would not be released until Friday at the earliest. She also confirmed Davis’s identity as a member of the BYU basketball team, noting that the other driver involved in the crash did not require hospital transport.
BYU Athletics released a brief statement Thursday night saying, “We are aware of the allegations and looking into the situation.” Beyond this, no additional comment has been made regarding potential disciplinary actions or Davis’s status with the team moving forward.
