Eagles Land Veteran Corner Jaire Alexander in Trade with Ravens
It’s been another big week of roster moves for the Philadelphia Eagles, and this one is catching plenty of attention across the league. The team has officially traded for veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander , picking him up from the Baltimore Ravens just days before the NFL trade deadline. In return, the Eagles are sending a 2026 sixth-round pick to Baltimore, while getting back Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick as part of the swap.
This move marks the second defensive back trade for the Eagles in just a few days. Earlier in the week, Philadelphia brought in Michael Carter II from the New York Jets to help strengthen the slot coverage. Now, they’re doubling down on their secondary, clearly signaling that the defensive backfield has been an area of concern this season.

For fans who’ve followed the NFL over the past few years, Jaire Alexander is certainly not an unfamiliar name. The 28-year-old cornerback first made a name for himself in Green Bay , where he became one of the league’s most respected defensive players. Drafted 18th overall by the Packers in 2018 , Alexander spent five strong seasons there, earning two Pro Bowl selections and two second-team All-Pro honors in 2020 and 2022. Known for his tight coverage and physical play, he started 62 games , recorded 10 interceptions , and tallied nearly 250 tackles during his time in Green Bay.
However, things haven’t gone quite as smoothly since then. Injuries, particularly knee issues, slowed him down over the past two years. After limited action in 2023 and 2024, Alexander was released by the Packers earlier this year and picked up by the Ravens in June. His stint in Baltimore didn’t go as hoped — he appeared in only two games , logging four tackles , and was inactive for several matchups, including the Ravens’ recent win in Miami.
Now, with the move to Philadelphia, Alexander is getting a fresh start . It’s expected that he’ll compete for playing time on the outside, potentially opposite rookie Quinyon Mitchell , depending on how Kelee Ringo and Adoree’ Jackson fit into the defensive rotation. One interesting twist is that Alexander will reunite with Eagles defensive backs coach Christian Parker , who previously worked with him in Green Bay. That familiarity could play a role in helping him regain his old form.
The Eagles’ front office, led by Howie Roseman , has made it clear they’re not leaving anything to chance. By adding experienced depth like Alexander, they’re hoping to stabilize their pass defense as the season heats up. Whether he returns to his Pro Bowl-level play or simply provides veteran leadership, one thing’s for sure — Philadelphia’s secondary just got a lot more interesting.
