Isabelle Déry Shines on “Quel Talent” Despite Semi-Final Setbacks
Even though Isabelle Déry didn’t make it to the grand finale of Quel Talent! , her journey on the show has already left a powerful mark. The singer from Saint-Paul-d’Abbotsford may not have taken home the trophy, but she’s walking away with something even more valuable — the confidence that she truly has what it takes.
Isabelle’s semi-final performance wasn’t without its challenges. She faced major technical issues with sound during her set, and to make things even tougher, the song choice wasn’t entirely her own. These factors might have affected the outcome, but they didn’t dampen her spirit. Watching the broadcast on Noovo, she admitted that it brought back all the tension and frustration from that day back in August. Still, she remains proud of what she achieved.
“When I filled out the application, my main goal was just to be seen, to be recognized as a singer — even if it was only once on TV,” Isabelle said in an interview with La Voix de l’Est . “It was stressful, but I got to see how this big machine works from the inside.”

Because of copyright and licensing limitations, Isabelle couldn’t revisit the repertoires of her idols Ginette Reno and Lara Fabian, so she opted to perform Parle-moi by Isabelle Boulay. The judges’ feedback was mixed — Serge Denoncourt said he wanted to be surprised, while Marie-Mai commented that some notes could’ve been stronger. Yet other judges, like Rachid Badouri and Anne Dorval, praised her growth and her ability to connect emotionally with the audience.
For Isabelle, the biggest takeaway wasn’t the competition result, but the validation she felt on stage. “It proved to me that I have real talent — that I can move people I’ve never met before,” she said proudly. She recalled her earlier performance of Ordinaire in the quarter-finals, where the entire audience stood up, the energy so intense that “the stage was literally vibrating.”
Since the episode aired, Isabelle has been flooded with support, spending nearly 15 hours responding to social media messages. For someone who’s mostly sung at weddings and private events, this sudden wave of recognition could be the start of a new chapter.
She laughed as she mentioned that at 51, maybe her time has finally come. Having once auditioned for La Voix and Star Académie without breaking through, her appearance on Quel Talent! feels like a well-earned moment in the spotlight.
Her story is a reminder that it’s never too late to chase your dreams — and sometimes, the greatest reward isn’t the win itself, but realizing that your voice truly matters.
