Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar Dominate 2026 Grammy Nominations
The 2026 Grammy nominations have officially been announced, and it’s already clear that this year’s race is packed with excitement, historic firsts, and some major surprises. Leading the pack are Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga, who top the nominations list, while K-Pop makes a groundbreaking appearance in one of the biggest categories.
For the second consecutive year, Kendrick Lamar has emerged as the most-nominated artist, racking up nine nods. His fiery album GNX earned him a coveted album of the year nomination, and he is also recognized for his collaboration with SZA on the chart-topping ballad Luther , which dominated the US Billboard charts for 11 weeks. Despite having five prior album of the year nominations, Lamar has never taken home the award in that category. If he wins next February, GNX would become the first rap album to claim the top prize since Outkast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in 2004. He faces stiff competition from Tyler, The Creator’s experimental Chromakopia and the reunited duo Clipse with Let God Sort Em Out . This year marks the first time in Grammy history that three rap albums have been shortlisted for album of the year.

Lady Gaga isn’t far behind, with seven nominations for her record Mayhem , a return to her electro-pop roots. She’s up for album of the year alongside Lamar, and her fans are eagerly cheering her on. Gaga and Lamar are joined in the top categories by Bad Bunny, who is nominated for his musically ambitious Spanish-language album Debà Tirar Más Fotos . This makes him the second artist to have an entirely Spanish-language album up for album of the year, after his own 2022 release Un Verano Sin Ti .
In a historic first, two K-Pop songs are vying for song of the year. Rosé, from the girl group Blackpink, and Bruno Mars’ pop hit APT is one contender, while the animated band Hunter/x made waves with Golden from the Netflix film K-Pop Demon Hunters . Rosé is the first K-Pop idol to be shortlisted for any of the Grammys’ “Big Four” awards, and Hunter/x are the first animated performers to be nominated in a main category.
Other notable nominees include Sabrina Carpenter, who earned six nominations for her country-pop crossover Manchild , and British newcomers Olivia Dean and Lola Young, both competing for best new artist. Yungblud also received his first Grammy nods in the rock categories for his album Idols and a standout live performance of Black Sabbath’s Changes . Meanwhile, popular acts like Coldplay and Elton John were surprisingly shut out of the top categories.
This year’s nominations reflect a diverse and vibrant music scene, with nearly 23,000 entries considered and voting conducted by over 15,000 music industry professionals. The winners will be revealed at the star-studded Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026. Fans around the world are already speculating who will take home the coveted gold gramophone, but one thing is clear: Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, and the new wave of global artists have made this year’s Grammy race unforgettable.
