Meghan Trainor Responds to Weight Loss Criticism and Embraces Self-Care
Meghan Trainor is opening up about her recent weight loss and the surprising backlash she’s faced for taking charge of her health. The "All About That Bass" singer revealed in a recent Entertainment Tonight interview that she’s been met with criticism online for her slimmer appearance, despite prioritizing her well-being for the first time after having children.
Trainor explained that her journey started after she was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. “I’ve got to learn about health and fitness. If I want to tour forever, I’ve got to be at my strongest,” she said, noting that staying healthy also helps her keep up with her young children without straining herself. She began exercising regularly, following a structured strength-training routine, and taking Mounjaro under medical supervision.
Even as she embraced these changes, Trainor found herself facing unexpected scrutiny. “I’m literally—for the first time ever, after having babies—taking care of my health to the highest level, and I’ve never felt better and I look incredible. And that’s when people attack me?” she remarked. She acknowledged how confusing it was to receive criticism for doing something so positive, adding, “I was like, ‘Wait a second, I’m taking care of myself. You don’t like it? OK. So what am I supposed to do?’”

Her experiences inspired her new song, “Still Don’t Care,” from her upcoming album Toy with Me . In it, she addresses the pressures of public judgment, singing about how she’s criticized for being both too thick and too thin. Trainor explained in a KIIS-FM interview that the song is a way to process the confusion and negativity she has faced, helping her manifest a future of self-acceptance and confidence.
Beyond her weight loss journey, Trainor also shared that she underwent breast augmentation earlier this year, calling it “the best choice I ever made.” She emphasized that the decision was entirely personal and about feeling confident in her body, rather than meeting anyone else’s expectations. Her approach, she says, is to support women in making changes for themselves without judgment.
Trainor’s path hasn’t been easy. She has experimented with dietary changes, including going gluten- and dairy-free for several months under a nutritionist’s guidance, which helped her manage digestive issues. She admits that learning how to eat healthily is a complex process, but the results have been transformative.
Ultimately, Meghan Trainor’s story is one of self-care, resilience, and defiance against unrealistic expectations. While critics may voice their opinions, she continues to focus on her health, happiness, and the confidence to embrace herself fully, inside and out.
