Nick Mohammed Teases Secretive ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Return
Fans of Ted Lasso are buzzing once again, and for good reason — Nick Mohammed, who plays the much-debated Nate Shelley, is keeping everyone guessing about his possible return in Season 4. The actor, known for perfectly capturing Nate’s complex journey from lovable underdog to misunderstood antagonist, has been deliberately vague when asked whether he’ll be appearing in the new season.

When speaking with Collider , Mohammed laughed off the question, saying, “I think sworn to secrecy is about right.” He explained that the upcoming season focuses on a whole new set of characters, which makes it tricky to discuss anything without spoiling surprises. Still, he hinted that he’s been in touch with his Ted Lasso co-stars and even spent time with them recently — suggesting that he may not be too far from the action after all. “We’ll have to see who pops up where and when,” he added.
Production for the Kansas City-based fourth season has already begun, with Jason Sudeikis, who not only stars as Ted but also co-created and executive produces the show, returning to set. He’s joined once again by familiar faces like Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. Filming kicked off in Kansas City back in July and is expected to move back to London soon.
The official logline for Ted Lasso Season 4 hints at a fresh twist. This time, Ted returns to Richmond to take on his biggest challenge yet — coaching a second-division women’s football team. The new storyline is said to explore themes of courage and transformation, as both Ted and his players learn to take leaps of faith and embrace the unexpected.
Earlier this year, Mohammed sparked speculation when he postponed part of his comedy tour, citing “some filming I have not been able to shift for love or money.” Fans were quick to notice he cheekily held up a Ted Lasso prop in a social media post, sending the internet into a frenzy of theories about his involvement in the new season.
For now, Mohammed isn’t giving anything away, but his playful responses suggest there may be more to come. Whether Nate Shelley’s redemption arc continues or not, the excitement surrounding Ted Lasso ’s return remains stronger than ever. And with the show’s signature mix of heart, humor, and humanity, Season 4 is shaping up to be another emotional ride — one that fans are eagerly waiting to see play out on Apple TV+.
