Patriots LG Jared Wilson Carted Off After Ankle Injury vs. Bengals
In a tough blow for the New England Patriots, rookie left guard Jared Wilson was carted off the field with an ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The injury occurred on the third play of the game, when running back TreVeyon Henderson ran for a 2-yard gain. Wilson was visibly in pain, grimacing as he remained on the field after the play. His teammates, along with the training staff and head coach Mike Vrabel, quickly rushed to his side to assess the situation.
Despite initially attempting to walk off the field under his own power, Wilson’s limp became more pronounced, and it soon became clear that he would need further assistance. He was then escorted to the sideline medical tent before ultimately being carted off for further evaluation in the training room. The Patriots later listed Wilson as questionable to return to the game, raising concerns about his ability to continue contributing to the team for the remainder of the contest.

Veteran Ben Brown, who has experience as both a center and guard, stepped in to replace Wilson at left guard. Brown’s insertion into the lineup marks a significant shift, as the Patriots' offensive line has been much improved this season with Wilson as a consistent presence. The team will likely be closely monitoring Wilson's recovery as the game progresses, and his status will be updated as more information becomes available.
The Patriots struggled early on, punting on their first possession after the injury. The game’s momentum could hinge on how quickly the team adjusts without Wilson, who had been a key player on their offensive line this season. With his absence, it’s clear that the Patriots will need to rely on the depth of their roster to keep up with the Bengals and continue their push for a strong finish to the season.
As of now, the Patriots are hopeful that Wilson’s injury is not too severe, but it’s uncertain how much time he might miss moving forward. For now, all eyes will be on how Ben Brown handles the additional responsibilities in Wilson’s absence and how the rest of the team adjusts to the change.
