Perth’s Danielle and Marko Exit MKR After Thrilling Semi-Final Showdown

This week on My Kitchen Rules 2025 , Perth couple Danielle Oakman and Marko Savic experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as they competed in the first semi-final, ultimately falling just short of a grand final spot. The young couple, who have been together for seven years, had captured the hearts of fans with their chemistry, creativity, and undeniable love for food, making their journey to the semi-finals a thrilling story in itself.

Danielle and Marko had admitted they never expected to make it this far when they entered the competition. “Honestly — we didn’t think we would make it this far,” Oakman said, reflecting on their unexpected success. But the pair quickly proved that their passion and teamwork could take them to the top, earning them a spot among the final four teams. Their semi-final rivals included NSW dads Justin Rolleston and Will Mataka, Queensland best friends Lol and Lil, and South Australia’s Maria and Bailer.

The tension in the kitchen was palpable. Danielle and Marko faced what they called the “worst-case scenario” by going up against Justin and Will, who had consistently topped the leaderboards throughout the season. Despite the challenge, the Perth couple stayed optimistic and focused on enjoying the experience. “We were underdogs in the situation, so we wanted to make sure we had fun and were present,” Marko explained. Their approach was to give it their all while savoring every moment, an attitude that shone through in their dishes.

For their main course, Danielle and Marko plated up an Asian-inspired miso-glazed salmon with soba noodles and a smashed cucumber salad, a dish that highlighted their signature style. Meanwhile, Justin and Will took a high-stakes gamble, serving a daring Sri Lankan tripe curry with carrot sambal and paratha — a risky move that ultimately impressed the judges. With dessert, the tension reached its peak. Danielle and Marko presented a pandan meringue, while Justin and Will went all out with a technically challenging chocolate soufflé. In the end, the NSW dads narrowly took the win, securing the first grand final spot.

Although the result was bittersweet, Danielle and Marko were proud of their efforts. “We were really proud and happy with what we cooked,” Danielle said, emphasizing that the experience was about growth and enjoyment as much as competition. For Marko, the journey strengthened not only their culinary skills but also their bond as a couple. “We realised we balance each other out. I think we walked out of the competition much stronger,” he reflected.

Looking ahead, Danielle has left her full-time job to pursue her passion for food and travel content creation, while Marko continues to focus on building their house and supporting her dreams. Despite the semi-final heartbreak, their MKR experience has left them closer than ever and more inspired than ever to follow their passions.

The final semi-final, which will determine the last grand finalist, is set to air next week on Seven and 7plus, with Queensland’s Lol and Lil going head-to-head against South Australia’s Maria and Bailer. Fans are already on the edge of their seats, eagerly waiting to see who will join Justin and Will in the grand final showdown.
