Qatar Airways and Air Algérie Join Forces to Boost Global Connectivity

Qatar Airways and Air Algérie have officially launched a new codeshare agreement this November 2025 — a move that’s set to significantly enhance travel connectivity between Algeria, the Middle East, and Asia. It’s an important step that not only deepens their cooperation but also strengthens tourism and trade links across regions that have been increasingly vital for both carriers.

Building on their earlier interline partnership, this expanded agreement now allows passengers to book codeshare flights starting November 15, 2025. For travelers flying with Qatar Airways, this means much easier access to Algeria’s capital, Algiers, and six other domestic destinations on Air Algérie’s network — Annaba, Constantine, Oran, Tamanrasset, Timimoun, and Tindouf. In return, passengers of Air Algérie will benefit from smoother connections to popular destinations such as Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Muscat via Qatar Airways’ hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha.

What’s even more appealing is that Qatar Airways Privilege Club members will earn Avios when traveling on Air Algérie-operated flights under this codeshare. It’s a win-win for both airlines’ loyal customers, making travel not just more connected, but also more rewarding.

Thierry Antinori, Qatar Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying it marks another milestone in expanding the airline’s African footprint. He highlighted that this collaboration offers travelers greater choice and seamless connectivity while reinforcing Qatar Airways’ commitment to Africa — a region increasingly central to global air travel. Antinori also pointed out Hamad International Airport’s consistent recognition as one of the world’s best airports, named the “Best Airport in the Middle East” for 11 consecutive years and crowned “World’s Best Airport” multiple times by Skytrax.

From the Algerian side, Air Algérie’s Head of Commercial Division, Samy El Karim Boutemadja, emphasized that this agreement presents an opportunity for the airline to enhance its presence in the Middle East and Asia. He explained that the codeshare supports Air Algérie’s broader strategy of using its Algiers hub as a key bridge between Africa and the world, expanding its network reach and promoting inbound tourism to Algeria.

Currently, Qatar Airways operates 213 weekly flights to 30 cities across 21 African countries, backed by 30 interline and six other codeshare agreements across the continent. Air Algérie, meanwhile, continues to operate as Algeria’s national flag carrier, connecting over 80 destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America.

Together, these two airlines are making international travel between North Africa, Asia, and the Middle East more accessible than ever before — a move that not only enhances convenience but also symbolizes a growing spirit of cooperation in global aviation.
