Robert Irwin has officially danced his way into history, winning the American version of Dancing with the Stars a full ten years after his sister, Bindi Irwin, took home the Mirrorball Trophy. The 21-year-old wildlife conservationist and presenter, son of the late Steve Irwin, captured hearts across the globe as he battled through a thrilling, three-hour live finale in Los Angeles.

Paired with professional dancer Witney Carson, Robert faced fierce competition from influencer Alix Earle, Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, actor Elaine Hendrix, and Dylan Efron, Zac Efron’s brother. Despite battling a painful rib injury during rehearsals, Robert delivered spectacular performances that won over both judges and the audience. His first dance earned him 29 out of 30 points, and his final two dances scored perfect marks, putting him in a tie for second place technically, with the audience vote ultimately securing his victory.

The emotional win was deeply personal for Robert. After his final performance, he was moved to tears, expressing a heartfelt wish that his late father could witness the moment. “I wish he could see it. I really wish he could be here,” he said. His mother, Terri Irwin, and sister, Bindi, were both part of the celebrations, with Terri even joining Robert on stage during a touching tribute dance to Phil Collins’ “You’ll Be In My Heart.” The performance honored the family’s legacy and highlighted the lasting influence of Steve Irwin, who tragically passed away in 2006.

Robert’s journey on the dance floor was unmistakably Irwin in spirit. His debut performance featured him in his iconic khaki attire, crouched on a 4WD with a kookaburra’s call in the background, before leaping into a high-energy jive. Over the course of the season, he mastered technically challenging routines, including a sultry salsa, a precise tango, and a jazz routine inspired by Wicked . His performances were not only technically impressive but also emotionally resonant, particularly the foxtrot tribute to his father, which earned him perfect scores.

This win adds another milestone to Robert’s already remarkable career. He recently became co-host of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and received a Gold Logie nomination, becoming the youngest male nominee ever. Beyond television, his viral Bond’s underwear campaign showcased his comfort with a more mature, public persona while staying true to the family-friendly values established by his parents.

As confetti rained down and Robert and Witney lifted the Mirrorball Trophy, his sister Bindi celebrated the moment on Instagram, remarking, “TWO MIRRORBALLS NOW CALL AUSTRALIA ZOO HOME!!!!” Robert’s victory was a perfect blend of talent, determination, and family legacy, a moment that honored the past while confidently stepping into his own future.

The Irwin family’s influence on and off the dance floor was undeniable, proving that the spirit of Steve Irwin lives on through his children’s courage, heart, and infectious passion.
