Now, if the name Xochitl Gomez sounds familiar, that’s because she’s been everywhere lately. She first caught attention on Raven’s Home and The Baby-Sitters Club before breaking out as America Chavez in Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Then she went on to win Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars alongside Val Chmerkovskiy, proving that she’s not only a talented actress but also a powerhouse performer.

In Boston Blue , Gomez’s character Penny isn’t just another love interest — she’s described as someone with layers, secrets, and a magnetic charm that draws people in. The show’s creators have hinted that her connection with Sean will face “unexpected complications,” keeping viewers guessing about where their story might go.

The series itself follows Donnie Wahlberg’s character, Detective Danny Reagan, as he relocates from New York to Boston in hopes of reconnecting with his younger son, Sean. It’s a fresh start for both the character and the franchise, introducing new faces and relationships while staying true to the core spirit of Blue Bloods .

Interestingly, Sean’s role has also been recast — Mika Amonsen now takes over from Andrew Terraciano, who portrayed the character for 14 seasons. According to the show’s co-creator Brandon Margolis, this change was made to bring a “different energy” and explore Sean’s next chapter as a young cop navigating his own world.

With a lineup that includes Donnie Wahlberg, Sonequa Martin-Green, Maggie Lawson, and Ernie Hudson, Boston Blue is quickly shaping up to be CBS’s next big procedural hit. And with Gomez’s arrival, the show adds not only a new romantic thread but also the kind of depth and excitement that fans love to see.

So, as Penny steps into Sean’s life — mysterious past and all — fans are eager to see how this chemistry plays out. One thing’s for sure: Xochitl Gomez is about to steal the spotlight once again, this time in Boston.
