Yi Zhou Alleges Threats and Misconduct by Jeremy Renner

Zhou, 34, has come forward with disturbing allegations against the 54-year-old Marvel star, claiming that he threatened to call U.S. immigration authorities on her after she confronted him over his alleged misconduct. She says Renner reached out to her via direct messages and WhatsApp in June 2025, sending unsolicited pornographic images. Zhou claims that this behavior marked the beginning of a romantic relationship, which eventually turned tense and frightening. She alleges that during a meeting about their documentary, Chronicles of Disney , Renner became intoxicated, drank an entire bottle of wine alone, and started yelling for hours, prompting her to lock herself in a room for safety.
Zhou shared screenshots of alleged messages with colleagues showing her describing Renner as “violent” and expressing fear for her life. She reportedly even shared her location with her team, family, and Disney contacts to ensure someone knew where she was. The filmmaker said she was so scared that she silently prayed for the night to pass without incident. Her Instagram posts detailed these experiences, framing them as examples of abuse, both personal and professional, that women and Asian filmmakers still face in the entertainment industry.
The situation escalated further when Zhou confronted Renner about his behavior. She claims that he threatened to call ICE on her, an action she described as deeply shocking and frightening. Zhou has characterized her story as a broader reflection of Hollywood’s systemic issues, including exploitation and abuse of power, particularly against women and Asian creators.
Renner’s history includes previous allegations of misconduct from his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco, who accused him of drug use and threatening behavior during their custody battle in 2019. He has denied all claims, and his representatives have not publicly commented on Zhou’s recent allegations.
