Zone RV’s Sudden Collapse Leaves Customers and Staff in Shock
So, here’s what’s happening right now with Zone RV, and honestly, it has caught a lot of people off guard. One of Australia’s well-known manufacturers of luxury, off-road caravans has suddenly collapsed into administration, and the timing couldn’t be worse. We’re just weeks out from Christmas, and both employees and customers have been thrown into uncertainty almost overnight.
Zone RV, which operates out of Coolum on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, is known for building high-end, off-road vans. But early Monday morning, staff arriving for a regular workday were met with news they never expected. They were informed that the company had gone into administration and were immediately told to go home. It’s understood that around 250 employees are owed entitlements — things like holiday pay — and now they’re left waiting to see what happens next.

Administrators from Cor Cordis have been appointed, and according to their spokesperson, an urgent review is being carried out to figure out if the company can be saved. Their stated priority is to preserve as much value as possible for everyone involved — employees, customers, suppliers — while assessing any realistic paths forward. Administrator Rahul Goyal explained that they’re looking at all options that could keep the brand alive, even if operations will only continue in a “substantially reduced capacity” for now.
And then there’s the customer side of this. A lot of people have already paid for caravans that were supposed to be ready for pickup. Ray and Barb Davidson are a clear example of how messy this situation has become. They drove all the way from Warragul to pick up their caravan, were told it was finished, and were asked to pay their final $40,000 balance that morning. They did exactly that — went to the bank, transferred the money — but when they got back to the Zone RV site, the gates were locked. No handover, no explanation. Just a sudden shutdown.
You can imagine the frustration. Ray described feeling angry and completely let down, and he questioned how the company could accept a final payment only hours before shutting its doors. According to him, the caravan is registered in his name, and he considers it his property — but now he must wait for answers from the administrator like everyone else.
A creditors’ meeting has already been scheduled for December 10, but until then, there’s not a lot of clarity. Calls and emails to Zone RV have gone unanswered, and their social media presence has vanished, with the Facebook page no longer active.
It’s a tough blow for the staff, the buyers, and even the broader caravan industry — especially considering that Zone RV had recently received a $1.16 million government grant in 2023 for advanced manufacturing equipment. For now, all anyone can do is wait to see if the business can be rescued or if this collapse becomes permanent.
