Ashes of Creation Opens Its Early Access Gates

It feels like we’ve been waiting forever, but the moment is finally here—Ashes of Creation is about to open its doors for early access, and the excitement around it is huge. This is the same ambitious MMORPG that blew past its Kickstarter goals back in 2017, and now players are finally getting the chance to jump into its evolving world of Verra through Steam. It’s worth stressing right away that what’s being released is still an alpha build, very much a work in progress, and Intrepid Studios has made sure to repeat that across its Steam page and its official site. But honestly, that’s the whole idea of early access: getting in early, shaping the game, and watching it grow.

What makes the timing even more dramatic is that there’s less than a day left before the servers go live. Anyone who’s followed Ashes of Creation’s long journey knows that patience has practically become part of the gameplay experience already, especially since progress during alpha phases can be wiped. Still, for fans of old-school PvX MMORPGs, that’s practically part of the charm.

The global launch is set for 10 am PST on Thursday, December 11. Unlike some launches that stagger the release across regions, this one rolls out everywhere at the same moment. So whether you’re in Los Angeles, New York, London, Berlin, or all the way in Sydney or Wellington, you’ll just need to match your local time to that universal release. Players outside those listed cities can rely on a pre-made calendar tool Intrepid shared, which makes the timezone math much easier.

One practical detail to keep in mind is that Steam will now be the only way to play Ashes of Creation. The old Intrepid Launcher is being retired completely. If you’re a returning Kickstarter backer or someone from the previous alpha stages, you’ll want to uninstall that old launcher, clear out the space, and make sure your Ashes account is linked to Steam. A fresh install will be required before you can jump in.

And here’s something newcomers should know: there’s no preload option. Downloading and registration only begin once the servers go live. So if you were hoping to get your client ready ahead of time, that won’t be possible this round.

Veteran players might want to visit the official site to double-check their account connection, but anyone hoping to buy the game early through Intrepid’s store is out of luck—those sales have closed, and access will only begin once the Steam version officially unlocks.

With the countdown ticking and the gates about to open, Ashes of Creation is finally taking a major step back into the spotlight. For longtime followers, it’s a milestone. For new players, it’s the beginning of something big.
