Cold Nights Linger, but Warmer Days Are Just Around the Corner
Right now, the weather story is all about sharp contrasts, and it’s something many people are already feeling the moment they step outside early in the morning. Over the past day, temperatures across different regions showed a wide range. During the daytime, highs were still relatively comfortable, reaching the upper teens in the north and climbing close to the high twenties in the south. But once the sun went down, the situation changed quickly.
Last night marked the arrival of the first strong continental cold air mass of the season. In some northern areas, temperatures dropped into the single digits, while even major urban areas felt a noticeable chill. Early morning readings showed many flatland regions hovering between 10 and 12 degrees, with a few spots dipping even lower. This cold was not accompanied by rain, though. Skies remained mostly clear, and cloud streets were observed over the sea as cold air passed over warmer ocean waters, while land areas stayed dry.

For tonight and the early hours of tomorrow morning, the cold is expected to persist. Because of strong radiative cooling under clear skies, temperatures in central and northern regions may again fall below 10 degrees in some places. It’s being advised that people take extra care to stay warm, especially during late night and early morning hours. Thick clothing and simple cold-weather precautions are likely to be needed, even though it’s technically not the heart of winter yet.
The good news is that this cold spell is not expected to last long. Starting tomorrow during the daytime, the cold air will gradually weaken. Sunshine will help push temperatures upward, making daytime conditions feel noticeably more comfortable. While mornings and evenings will remain cool, afternoons are expected to feel mild, and in some areas even slightly warm. This pattern of cool nights and pleasant days will continue for several days, bringing large differences between day and night temperatures.
As the week goes on, stable and mostly sunny weather is expected to dominate at first. Later in the week, more clouds may move in from the south, and some mountainous areas could see brief, light rain. A few lowland areas in central and southern regions might also notice occasional drizzle. Despite this, daytime temperatures should stay comfortable, with cool evenings continuing to remind everyone that winter is settling in.
Looking a bit further ahead, another weaker northeast monsoon is expected to arrive toward the end of the weekend. This could bring some rain to windward areas and slightly cooler conditions in the north. Overall, the message is clear: brace for cold nights now, enjoy the warmer days ahead, and stay prepared for quick weather changes in the coming days.
