Forest 3 Unveiled: Endnight’s Bold New Survival Horror Adventure

If you caught the Game Awards this year, you might have done a double take at one of the trailers—what looked like a mind-bending first-person sci-fi adventure is actually the next chapter in a beloved survival horror series. Forest 3, the latest game from Endnight, was revealed in one of the more chaotic moments of the show, squeezed between the Tomb Raider reveal and a skit about the new Invincible fighter character. But despite the crowded stage, this game immediately grabbed attention, and it’s easy to see why.

The trailer opens with a first-person view from a spaceship cockpit. Things quickly go off the rails as the protagonist is pulled through what appears to be a portal or wormhole, hurtling impossibly far from Earth. The crash landing that follows echoes the iconic plane crash from the first game, The Forest, but what happens afterward sets Forest 3 apart. Players are immediately plunged into survival gameplay, scavenging and hunting, with a cheeky mechanical shoulder companion providing assistance along the way. Notably, tree punching is out—thankfully, Endnight seems to be refining and evolving the survival mechanics fans love.

The world of Forest 3 is instantly striking. The alien planet we see is swampy and foreboding, with a damp, grey-blue atmosphere that evokes the eerie, rainy landscapes of Death Stranding. Creatures lurk in the shadows, and at one point a disturbing humanoid-like abomination rises from the water, hinting at the terrifying encounters players can expect. It’s clear that Endnight is taking the survival horror formula into a fresh, sci-fi direction without losing the tense, immersive qualities that made its previous games so compelling.

While many fans might be wondering if prior experience with The Forest or Sons of the Forest is required, early indications suggest that Forest 3 can stand on its own. The developers have kept release details under wraps, with no specific launch window or platforms announced, and the Steam page is not yet live. But given the positive reception of the previous entries, anticipation is already running high.

Forest 3 promises to blend classic survival horror with bold new sci-fi elements, delivering a game that is both familiar and refreshingly different. From the intense, first-person perspective to the alien environments and chilling creatures, it’s a title that survival horror fans—and newcomers—will be keeping a close eye on in the months to come.

Endnight has clearly set the bar high once again, and if the trailer is anything to go by, Forest 3 is shaping up to be an unforgettable journey into the unknown.
