How to Find Candleberries and Complete Flickering Flames in Arc Raiders

If you’ve been spending time in Arc Raiders lately, you’ve probably noticed that the Cold Snap update hasn’t just brought snow and freezing temperatures. It has also quietly introduced a seasonal project called Flickering Flames, and at the center of it all is one rare resource that players are now hunting for: Candleberries.

The Cold Snap condition changes how maps feel and play, covering large areas in snow and ice. During this condition, Candleberries can start appearing, but only when Cold Snap is active. It’s worth noting that this map condition won’t show up on Stella Montis, but it can appear on almost every other map, so you’ll get plenty of chances if you keep dropping in.

Candleberries are usually found in Nature regions, the same places where you would normally search for fruits used in Scrappy upgrades. These areas are clearly marked with a leaf icon on the map, making them easy to identify. Once you’re there, keep your eyes open. Candleberry bushes are bright red, and they stand out sharply against the white snow. The downside is that each bush typically drops just one Candleberry, which means gathering them manually can feel slow and grindy.

Thankfully, there’s a much easier way to stock up. By progressing through the Gathering Candleberries event, players are rewarded with a massive total of 180 Candleberries just by earning XP. Since XP naturally converts into Merits as you play, these berries are unlocked over time without any extra effort. For many players, this method will end up being the main source of Candleberries.

The Flickering Flames project itself is divided into five stages, and each stage requires Candleberries along with other items. Most of these additional items are fairly common and can be found in drawers, cabinets, cars, and other loot containers across all maps. Stage one starts small, asking for items like an empty wine bottle, plastic parts, durable cloth, and 20 Candleberries. From there, the requirements steadily increase.

Later stages introduce items such as candle holders, industrial batteries, snap blast grenades, duct tape, and even things like coffee pots, frying pans, and music albums. By the final stage, you’ll need a hefty 70 Candleberries on top of everything else. Each completed requirement rewards you with useful bonuses like Raider Tokens or Merits, which tie back into the broader seasonal event.

Overall, while Candleberries might seem rare at first, the system is designed so that steady play will naturally get you there. Between Cold Snap exploration and event rewards, Flickering Flames becomes less about frustration and more about smart progression.
