India Women Dominate Sri Lanka to Take 4-0 Lead in T20I Series
In a dominant performance, the Indian women’s cricket team sealed a comprehensive 30-run victory over Sri Lanka in the 4th T20I of their five-match series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. With this win, India extended their lead to 4-0, continuing their perfect run in the series.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first, but they were unable to contain the explosive batting display from India. The opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma set the tone for the match, as they put on a record-breaking 162-run stand for the first wicket. This partnership became the highest for any wicket in India’s women’s T20I history, surpassing their previous best of 143 runs.

Mandhana played a blistering knock of 80 runs from 48 balls, striking 11 boundaries and 3 sixes. Meanwhile, Verma contributed 79 runs off 46 balls, with 12 boundaries and a six. Their partnership not only set a formidable foundation for India but also highlighted their growing chemistry as one of the most dangerous opening combinations in women’s T20 cricket.
India’s final total of 221/2 was their highest-ever team score in T20I cricket, a reflection of their depth and power in the batting lineup. The Sri Lankan bowlers struggled to make an impact, and by the time they came in to bat, they were already under pressure to chase down a huge target.
Sri Lanka's innings never gained much momentum. They struggled against India’s bowlers, failing to put together any substantial partnerships. Despite a valiant effort from captain Chamari Athapaththu and Harshitha Samarawickrama, Sri Lanka finished at 191/6, falling short by 30 runs.
This victory reinforced India’s dominance in the series and showcased their strength in both batting and bowling departments. The win marked yet another step towards a series whitewash, with just one match remaining in the series. With a 4-0 lead, India will now look to complete the sweep in the final T20I.
