M&S Reveals Christmas and Boxing Day 2025 Opening Hours for Festive Shoppers

If you’re planning a last-minute dash for festive food, gifts, or those classic Marks and Spencer treats, M&S has now confirmed how its stores will operate over Christmas and Boxing Day 2025. As always, this time of year is one of the busiest for the retailer, with shoppers stocking up on everything from Christmas dinners and party food to clothing, homeware, and thoughtful presents for loved ones.

It has been made clear that Christmas Eve will largely run as a normal trading day, although many stores are expected to shut their doors a little earlier than usual in the evening. This adjustment is being made so staff can begin their own festive celebrations, while still giving customers plenty of time to pick up those final essentials. Anyone heading out on December 24 is advised to shop earlier in the day to avoid missing out.

On Christmas Day itself, all Marks and Spencer stores across the UK will be closed. This long-standing tradition is being continued to ensure employees are able to spend the day with family and friends. So, if M&S food is central to your Christmas plans, it’s worth making sure everything is bought well in advance.

When it comes to Boxing Day, things are a little more mixed. The majority of larger M&S stores will remain closed, including many flagship locations. However, some outlet branches and selected convenience stores will be open for limited hours. This mainly applies to M&S Simply Food shops, especially those located at motorway service stations, which are designed to cater to travellers during the holiday period.

To give a clearer picture of how this works in practice, the Oxford Street store in London, one of the brand’s most well-known locations, has shared its festive schedule. It will be open from 8am to 10pm on December 23, then from 8am until 7pm on Christmas Eve. The store will be closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, before reopening on December 27 with extended hours. Normal Sunday trading will follow, with browsing allowed before tills officially open at midday.

M&S has also taken the opportunity to highlight its festive range, reminding shoppers about personalised gifts, indulgent food hampers, chocolates, flowers, and celebratory drinks, all of which remain popular choices during the season. With so much variation in opening times depending on location and store type, shoppers are being encouraged to check their local branch details before setting off. This simple step could help avoid disappointment and make festive shopping a lot less stressful.
