Nebraska Volleyball Rolls Past Kansas, One Step Closer to the Elite Eight
If you’re following college volleyball right now, Nebraska’s run is becoming impossible to ignore. The Cornhuskers entered the NCAA Sweet 16 unbeaten at 32-0, and on Friday night in Lincoln, that perfect season was kept very much alive with a dominant sweep of Kansas. From the opening serve to the final point, it felt like Nebraska was fully in control, playing with confidence, balance, and a clear sense of purpose.
The match began with Nebraska setting the tone immediately. The first set was handled with authority, ending 25-12, as Kansas struggled to find any rhythm against the Huskers’ defense. Nebraska’s blocking presence was felt early, rallies were extended, and Kansas was held to a negative hitting percentage. By the time the second set rolled around, the story didn’t change much. Although Kansas briefly narrowed the gap, Nebraska responded with a long scoring run and closed the set 25-11, once again showing just how sharp and disciplined this team is on both sides of the net.

Statistically, the gap between the two teams told the story. Nebraska hit an impressive .353 for the match, ranking right in line with its national-best offensive efficiency. Kansas, meanwhile, was smothered by Nebraska’s defense and finished with a hitting percentage well below zero. Ten team blocks and more than 30 digs were recorded by the Huskers, as every Kansas attack seemed to meet either a wall at the net or a perfectly positioned defender in the back row.
Individually, several Huskers stood out. Rebekah Allick was flawless early, going nine-for-nine in her attacks through the first set, while Andi Jackson anchored the net with five blocks. Jackson’s season has been nothing short of remarkable, and her calm presence continues to set the tone for Nebraska’s front line. The offense flowed smoothly, the defense stayed locked in, and the bench energy never dipped.
What makes this Nebraska team especially dangerous is the mindset. Despite the pressure of an undefeated season and Final Four expectations, practices have been kept light and focused. Players have spoken openly about staying present and not looking too far ahead, and that approach was clearly reflected on the court. Nebraska played freely, confidently, and without hesitation.
For Kansas, simply reaching the Sweet 16 was a milestone, marking the program’s fourth appearance at this stage and the first since 2021. Under first-year head coach Matt Ulmer, the Jayhawks showed growth all season, but Nebraska proved to be a different level entirely. The all-time series now heavily favors the Huskers, who remain unbeaten against Kansas.
With the sweep complete, Nebraska moves on to the NCAA Regional Final, where Texas A&M awaits. The path to the Elite Eight is now just one match away, and based on what was seen against Kansas, Nebraska looks more than ready for the challenge ahead.
