New Street Fighter Movie Ignites Hype With Action-Packed 2026 Teaser
A brand-new “Street Fighter” movie is on the way, and the excitement has already taken over the internet. A short teaser was unveiled during the 2025 Game Awards, and even though it lasted just 45 seconds, it managed to pull fans right back into the world of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises. The cast actually appeared onstage to introduce the preview, adding even more energy to the reveal.
In the teaser, familiar faces from the series were brought to life: Chun-Li, Ryu, Ken, Guile, Balrog, and many more. It felt like a quick roll call of legendary fighters, each introduced with just enough flair to spark curiosity without giving too much away. Fans online reacted almost immediately. The general vibe was excitement mixed with cautious optimism. People were praising the visuals and the character reveals, while some held back, waiting to see if the movie would truly honor the franchise. As one fan put it, it seems to be “shaping up to be exactly what we wanted… a non-serious stomp fest,” while another simply said, “They understood the assignment.”

The story is set in 1993, and according to the official synopsis, Ryu and Ken—played by Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo—are pulled back into the fight after being recruited by Chun-Li, portrayed by Callina Liang. They’re drawn into the next World Warrior Tournament, which is described as a brutal showdown full of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this global tournament lies a darker conspiracy, one that pushes Ryu and Ken toward personal conflicts and old demons. The stakes are intense, and the film makes it clear: if they don’t face what’s coming, “it’s game over.”
The cast list alone has caused a stir. Cody Rhodes steps in as Guile, Orville Peck appears as Vega, 50 Cent takes on the role of Balrog, and Jason Momoa transforms into Blanka. Vidyut Jammwal appears as Dhalsim, Roman Reigns becomes Akuma, and David Dastmalchian portrays the infamous M. Bison. It’s a lineup that mixes action stars, athletes, musicians, and performers from wildly different backgrounds—and fans are already debating which roles might end up stealing the show.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai and written by Dalan Musson, the movie is a collaboration between Legendary and Capcom, with Paramount distributing. It promises big fights, big personalities, and a clear attempt to embrace the over-the-top style that made “Street Fighter” beloved in the first place.
The film officially hits theaters on October 16, 2026, and if the early reactions are any hint, it’s already one of the most anticipated action films of that year.
