Nkunku's Double Lifts Milan to Top of Serie A
AC Milan took a huge step towards the top of the Serie A standings with a dominant 3-0 win over Hellas Verona. The victory, sealed by a brace from Christopher Nkunku, saw Milan leapfrog Inter Milan, who were temporarily in first place. However, the breakthrough came in added time of the first half, when Christian Pulisic volleyed home from a corner kick, giving Milan a crucial 1-0 lead going into the break.

The second half was all about Nkunku. The forward made his mark early, scoring twice in quick succession to extend Milan's lead. His first goal came from the penalty spot after he was fouled inside the box. Just minutes later, he added another, pouncing on a rebound from Luka Modric’s shot that had hit the post. Milan was now firmly in control, and Verona stood little chance of mounting a comeback.
Milan’s manager, Massimiliano Allegri, praised the team for their resilience against a fast and tricky Verona side. He emphasized that the victory was crucial, particularly as the Scudetto race heats up. Allegri also made a point about how the league title could be decided by a points total between 82 and 84, with a possible rise to 86 if a team goes on a strong winning run.
This win pushed Milan to the top of Serie A, but Inter Milan still had the chance to reclaim the position in their evening game against Atalanta. As for Verona, their recent momentum was halted, but they had fought hard throughout the match.
Elsewhere, Juventus secured a vital win against Pisa with a 2-0 victory, while other results continued to shape the lower half of the table, with teams like Cagliari and Fiorentina fighting to stay out of relegation.
For Milan, though, the focus is firmly on the Scudetto, and this win served as a reminder that when they click, they can beat any team in Italy. Nkunku’s form, along with Pulisic’s vital contribution, offers Milan plenty of reasons to be optimistic as they chase down the title.
