Strictly Come Dancing Finalists Revealed After Emotional Elimination
The excitement surrounding this season of Strictly Come Dancing reached a new peak as the finalists were confirmed following Sunday night's elimination. EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal, alongside her partner Julian Caillon, found themselves in the dreaded bottom two for a record sixth time this series. Despite her strong performances, including a Salsa and a Waltz during the semi-finals, Sopal's journey on the show came to a tearful end after a dance-off with reality star Amber Davies and her partner Nikita Kuzmin.
After a tense battle on the dance floor, the judges made the difficult decision to send Sopal home. She had managed to survive several eliminations throughout the competition, but in the end, her luck ran out. For Davies, this was her second consecutive week surviving a dance-off, and she will now join social media influencer George Clarke and former footballer Karen Carney in the upcoming final.

During her emotional farewell, Sopal expressed her immense gratitude for the experience. "I’ve absolutely adored every single minute of it," she said, reflecting on the ups and downs of the competition. She went on to explain that despite the challenges and numerous dance-offs, her journey on Strictly had been a dream come true. "This was my 'Yes Year'," Sopal added. "I said yes to Strictly , and it’s been incredible."
She also paid heartfelt tribute to her dance partner, Julian Caillon, describing him as "brilliant in every sense of the word." The two had developed a close bond throughout the series, with Sopal praising Caillon for always having her back, whether she was struggling with a move or feeling confident about a performance. "When I wobbled, and when I felt really brilliant about the dance... you've just held me in your hands," she said. "I’ve never felt alone on this floor, and I want you to remember me."
Caillon, clearly moved by the experience, shared his admiration for Sopal, stating that she embodied the very spirit of Strictly Come Dancing . "Her spirit is unbreakable," he said, adding that Sopal had inspired him to dream bigger. "Whatever you want in life, you just need the desire to go after it, and Bal has shown me that."
Meanwhile, the remaining contestants have been gearing up for the grand finale, with Carney and her partner Carlos Gu topping the leaderboard after an impressive performance that earned them a near-perfect score of 78 out of 80. The final will be held next Saturday, with the remaining three couples giving their all for the coveted Glitterball Trophy.
The results show also marked a special moment for departing presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who were each presented with their own unique golden Glitterball Trophy in recognition of their years of service on the show. With a festive performance from Kylie Minogue and an appearance from the band James, the night was filled with memorable moments. The Strictly Come Dancing final will air live on BBC One on Saturday, December 20th, with the winner to be crowned that evening.
