Joel Dommett Joins Star-Studded Taskmaster Season 21 Line-Up

There’s been a lot of buzz lately around Joel Dommett, and it’s all tied to the official reveal of the Taskmaster season 21 cast. After weeks of speculation following the New Year Treat special, the long-running comedy challenge show has finally confirmed which five familiar faces will be stepping into the Taskmaster house, and Dommett is right at the heart of that excitement.

It has now been confirmed that Joel Dommett, best known to many as the energetic presenter of The Masked Singer, will be taking on the famously ridiculous tasks set by Greg Davies. He’ll be attempting to impress the mighty Taskmaster while being closely monitored by his ever-watchful assistant, Little Alex Horne. As with every season, dignity is expected to be left firmly at the door, and Dommett’s playful, quick-witted personality suggests plenty of memorable moments are likely to be delivered.

Dommett won’t be facing the madness alone. The season 21 line-up also includes stand-up comedian Amy Gledhill, political satirist and writer Armando Iannucci, Gavin & Stacey favourite Joanna Page, and Hollywood star Kumail Nanjiani. It’s a particularly notable group, as for the first time in Taskmaster history, the cast features two Oscar nominees. Both Iannucci and Nanjiani have previously earned Academy Award nominations for screenwriting, adding an unexpected layer of prestige to the chaos.

This new group follows directly in the footsteps of the previous season’s winner, Maisie Adam, who claimed the Taskmaster trophy after an unprecedented three-way tie that had to be settled with a tense tiebreak question. Whoever emerges victorious this time will be hoping to secure a place among the show’s elite and potentially feature in a future Champion of Champions special, a title recently claimed by Ghosts star Mathew Baynton.

Away from the studio, Taskmaster continues to expand. Greg Davies and Alex Horne are preparing to bring a live version of the show to theatres across the east coast of the United States, marking another milestone in the programme’s growing global popularity. While Channel 4 has yet to officially confirm what lies beyond season 21, the general expectation is that the show will continue. Davies himself has hinted that as long as the fun remains, there’s no reason to stop.

For Joel Dommett, this appearance represents a chance to showcase a different side of his comedic talent. Fans will soon find out whether his charm and creativity are enough to win Greg Davies’ golden head when Taskmaster season 21 airs later this year.
