Across the UK, major DIY retailers including B&Q, Wickes, Homebase and Screwfix are adjusting their opening times for the early May Bank Holiday, creating a slightly different schedule that shoppers need to pay close attention to before heading out.
For B&Q customers, the good news is stability. Stores are expected to largely maintain their normal trading pattern throughout the weekend, including Bank Holiday Monday, with typical opening hours running from around 7am in the morning through to 8pm in the evening. That means most customers planning garden upgrades, paint jobs, or quick fixes should still be able to shop without disruption, although individual store variations remain possible.
Wickes is also offering consistency for shoppers, with most locations continuing their regular opening hours across the entire three-day weekend. That makes it one of the more predictable options for last-minute DIY runs, especially for those working on time-sensitive home projects.

Screwfix, however, is making a more noticeable adjustment. The retailer will be opening as usual in the early morning, but closing earlier than standard trading days. On Bank Holiday Monday, most stores are expected to shut around 6pm, reducing the available window for tradespeople and DIY customers who may be working later in the day.
