Xbox’s Grounded Headlines PlayStation Plus June Lineup in Surprise Cross-Platform Move
Script:
The lines between Xbox and PlayStation exclusives are continuing to blur and now one of Xbox’s most beloved survival adventures is officially leading Sony’s June PlayStation Plus lineup.
Sony has revealed the latest batch of monthly PS Plus games and the standout addition is undoubtedly Grounded — the backyard survival hit developed by Xbox-owned studio Obsidian Entertainment. The game will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers beginning June 2 on both PS4 and PS5.
For many gamers, this is another major sign of Microsoft’s evolving strategy around console exclusivity. Once considered firmly tied to the Xbox ecosystem, Grounded made its jump to PlayStation in 2024 after Microsoft began expanding select first-party titles beyond Xbox platforms. Now, it’s becoming one of the headline offerings on Sony’s subscription service — something that would have seemed almost impossible just a few years ago.

And Grounded isn’t arriving alone. Joining the June PlayStation Plus lineup are Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 for PS4 and PS5, along with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on PS5. Darktide, in particular, has gained a much stronger reputation after numerous post-launch updates improved the overall experience for co-op shooter fans.
Meanwhile, there’s one surprise that’s generating mixed reactions online. EA Sports FC 26 is remaining in the PS Plus monthly lineup for another month after already appearing previously. Some subscribers are frustrated by the repeat offering, while others are welcoming the extended access ahead of a major June 4 update that adds a new international tournament mode featuring 48 national teams.
Sony also confirmed more content is on the way for higher-tier subscribers. Destiny 2: Legacy Collection joins the PS Plus Game Catalog on June 9, bundling together multiple expansions leading up to 2024’s The Final Shape expansion. It comes at a pivotal moment for the long-running franchise as developer Bungie prepares to wind down active development on the game’s current saga.
And beyond the games themselves, Sony is launching its annual Days of Play promotion beginning May 27. The event includes discounts on accessories, games and PlayStation Plus memberships — although notably, PlayStation consoles themselves appear absent from the sale following recent hardware price increases.
What’s becoming increasingly clear is that the old walls between gaming ecosystems are weakening. Xbox-published games appearing on PlayStation Plus is no longer shocking — it’s rapidly becoming part of the new industry reality.
