Leigh Diffey, the Australian broadcaster who has become synonymous with IndyCar over the past two decades, has concluded his final race as the series' commentator for NBC. With a move to NASCAR on the horizon, the IndyCar paddock took a moment to reflect on his remarkable career and bid him a heartfelt farewell.

Diffey, who first crossed the Atlantic to cover Champ Car races more than 20 years ago, quickly cemented his place as a cornerstone of IndyCar's broadcast team. His dynamic commentary and infectious enthusiasm have made him a beloved figure among fans and drivers alike. As he prepares to lead NBC’s NASCAR broadcasts, the IndyCar community came together to honor his contributions and express their gratitude.

Roger Penske, the iconic team owner, shared his appreciation: "We want to thank Leigh Diffey for his passion, preparation, and professionalism over the course of more than two decades calling IndyCar races. Leigh has done an amazing job as the voice of our sport, bringing fans closer to the action with his knowledge, wit, and colorful commentary. Current IndyCar star Alex Palou echoed these sentiments, recalling Diffey’s warm greetings: "He would come up with, ‘Hello Palou!’ He’s a great voice and makes IndyCar feel like a family. He’ll be missed, but hopefully, he’ll be back calling our races one day."

David Malukas, a rising star in the paddock, fondly remembered Diffey’s early support: "Leigh was one of the first to talk to me when I joined the paddock. His kind words made me feel welcome, and he was always a bit on my side. Meeting him at Iowa for his last race and having a ‘bro’ moment was really special.
