Bandai Namco has unveiled an exciting addition to the PlayStation Plus lineup for November— Death Note: Killer Within, launching November 5th on both PS5 and PS4. This highly anticipated game is a social deduction experience set in the intense world of Death Note, allowing up to 10 players to immerse themselves in a thrilling contest of wits and deception. Inspired by the original Death Note series, the game challenges players to assume iconic roles from the franchise: either as the enigmatic Kira, his loyal followers, or the brilliant investigator L and his team.
The game’s structure pits two sides against each other in a deadly battle of strategy. One side, led by Kira and his followers, seeks to eliminate L and protect the deadly Death Note, a notebook that has the power to kill anyone whose name is written within it. The other team, led by L and supported by Investigators, is determined to discover Kira’s identity and neutralize the threat he poses. Each player’s role affects their strategy, making each session a unique and intense challenge.

In Death Note: Killer Within, there are four roles that players can embody, each bringing unique abilities and objectives. If assigned the role of Kira, you will secretly use the Death Note to eliminate other players, but you’ll need to be cautious to avoid suspicion. The Kira Follower role allows players to assist Kira by stealing Investigator IDs and secretly communicating with him, even allowing the Death Note to be passed along at strategic moments. Investigators, meanwhile, gather clues to expose Kira, interviewing NPCs and gathering evidence to help narrow down the suspects. Finally, if you play as L, you have access to special abilities like command actions and surveillance, making you a formidable opponent in the quest to expose Kira.
Gameplay unfolds in two primary phases: the Action Phase and the Meeting Phase. During the Action Phase, players move through the game environment completing tasks and gathering information. In the Meeting Phase, players discuss their suspicions and make their case to expose Kira. If Kira can successfully avoid being caught or eliminate L, his team wins. However, if L’s team deduces Kira’s identity and arrests him, they secure victory and destroy the Death Note.
Customization options also add to the experience, letting players personalize their characters with unique accessories, nameplates, and even special animations for standout moments. Death Note: Killer Within supports both online cross-play and voice chat, making it easy for players to connect and strategize with friends across different platforms.
