Jaguars Dominate Patriots in London with Ground Game and Defense
In a thrilling Week 7 NFL matchup in London, the Jacksonville Jaguars delivered a commanding 32-16 win over the New England Patriots, marking their second victory of the 2024 season. The game started with an early Patriots lead, but Jacksonville turned the tide, scoring 25 unanswered points and ultimately controlling the game with a powerful ground attack and solid defense.
The Patriots came out strong, with quarterback Drake Maye leading two early scoring drives that resulted in a 10-0 advantage. However, Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars quickly responded, cutting into that lead and flipping the momentum. A touchdown pass from Lawrence to Brian Thomas Jr. and a 97-yard punt return touchdown by Parker Washington gave Jacksonville a 22-10 lead at halftime.

Lawrence played one of his best games of the season, going 15-of-20 for 193 yards and a touchdown. More importantly, the Jaguars' offensive line and running game took center stage. Jacksonville outpaced the Patriots on the ground, racking up 171 rushing yards compared to New England’s meager 38. Running back Tank Bigsby had a standout performance, scoring two rushing touchdowns, including a crucial fourth-quarter score that sealed the win for Jacksonville.
The Patriots, now 1-6, showed flashes of promise, especially with rookie quarterback Drake Maye, who threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns. Maye’s 22-yard touchdown pass to K.J. Osborn in the fourth quarter tightened the score to 25-16, but a failed two-point conversion and Bigsby’s late rushing touchdown put the game out of reach.
For the Jaguars, this victory brings some much-needed relief, improving their record to 2-5. Trevor Lawrence’s strong performance also alleviates some of the pressure on head coach Doug Pederson, who has faced criticism amid the team’s disappointing season.
Both teams came into the game with high expectations, but Jacksonville clearly outmuscled New England, especially on the ground. As the NFL season progresses, this win could serve as a turning point for the Jaguars, while the Patriots face mounting challenges with their season slipping away.
