UK Rapper Yung Filly Granted Bail on Sexual Assault Charges in Perth
British YouTuber and rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been granted bail after being charged with sexual assault in Perth, Australia. The 29-year-old, who was on an Australian tour, is facing serious allegations of raping a woman in his hotel room after a performance at a venue in the northern suburbs of the city. Western Australia police arrested him in Brisbane before extraditing him to Perth to face the charges.
Yung Filly, well known for his YouTube comedy skits and his involvement with the Beta Squad, has also built a successful music career, earning millions of fans worldwide. Despite his celebrity status, the accusations against him are severe. He faces four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of impeding a person's breathing by applying pressure to their neck. These charges stem from an incident that allegedly took place on September 28 after his performance at the Bar1 nightclub in Hillarys.

During his court appearance in Perth, prosecutors highlighted the gravity of the accusations and presented evidence, including photos, which they argued depicted injuries that went beyond what could be considered consensual. They raised concerns that his significant online presence, with millions of followers across platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, could lead to witness interference if he remained free. Prosecutors also flagged the risk that he might flee Australia, given his international ties and financial means.
Despite these concerns, Magistrate Tanya Watt granted bail under strict conditions. Yung Filly must remain in Western Australia, report daily to police, and refrain from contacting the alleged victim or discussing the case on social media. Additionally, he was required to post a personal surety of $100,000.
The rapper’s legal team, led by top barrister Seamus Rafferty, successfully argued for bail, stating that ordinary bail conditions should apply, as all people are equal under the law. Rafferty rejected the idea that his client’s social media influence made him a greater risk. He also challenged the prosecution's claims, suggesting that the case had significant issues, including questions around intoxication and consent. He noted that the alleged victim did not mention any assault in a phone call to a friend shortly after the incident.
This case has already attracted considerable public attention, with fans attending the court hearing to support Yung Filly. However, the legal proceedings are still in their early stages, and Yung Filly’s future remains uncertain as he awaits trial. The social media star’s career has been thrown into turmoil, with these serious allegations casting a shadow over his reputation.
