Woman Fatally Stabbed in Broad Daylight at Paul Landry Park in Ottawa’s South End
A tragic incident unfolded at Paul Landry Park in Ottawa on the morning of October 24, 2024, when a woman was fatally stabbed in broad daylight. Emergency services were called to the park, located on Uplands Drive between Paul Anka Drive and Bennett Street, at around 11:25 a.m. Ottawa Police responded quickly to the scene, but sadly, the woman had succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released as authorities work to notify her next of kin.
The park, usually a peaceful space frequented by families, became the site of an active crime investigation. Two children who were at the park at the time were taken to the hospital as a precaution, although they were not physically injured. The sight of an empty stroller left at the scene paints a heartbreaking image of the events that transpired.

Following the incident, police confirmed that a suspect was seen fleeing in a vehicle. In a swift response, law enforcement tracked the suspect down and arrested him on Highway 417, near exit 66, just outside of Ottawa. The suspect is now in custody, and the investigation is ongoing. Ottawa Police are urging anyone with information to contact their Homicide Unit, as the city deals with its 22nd homicide of 2024.
The area surrounding the park was cordoned off by yellow police tape, and investigators worked into the afternoon to gather evidence. The tragic loss of life has shaken the community, and residents are left grappling with the shock and sadness of such a violent act occurring in a public space.
