During a performance of "The Greatest," a track from her 2024 album Hit Me Hard and Soft , Billie revealed how she felt when she took out one of her in-ear monitors and heard the crowd singing along. “When I did the first show of my tour, ‘The Greatest’ just has a lot of special meaning to us,” she said. “I did ‘The Greatest,’ and I took one of my in-ears out and just heard this giant arena filled with people singing it.”
The overwhelming sound of thousands of fans singing her song left Billie speechless. While she explained that the audience sang every song with passion, it was the moment when they joined her in singing “The Greatest” that stood out. The song holds a personal significance for Billie, not only because of its emotional resonance but also because of the memories tied to its creation. She described how the experience made her feel a deep connection with her fans, seeing and hearing the impact of her music in real time.
“Something about hearing that song that has this meaning for me and this memory for me, and also the memory of us making it... what it gave us in our creative spirit,” she continued. “And just hearing that crowd sing it really made me, like, have, you know, in front of me proof. I could see it with my eyes, I could hear it with my ears.”
Billie emphasized how rare and valuable these moments are, expressing her gratitude for being able to witness firsthand how her music touches her audience. "And that is something that I hold so close to me," she added. "Every time I get a chance to see how what I do impacts people, that's the stuff."
This emotional moment was just one of many during the "Hit Me Hard and Soft" tour, which began in September 2024 and will continue until July 2025. For Billie Eilish, this tour has not only been a career milestone but a reminder of the deep, meaningful connection she shares with her fans—a bond that continues to shape and inspire her journey as an artist.
