Today’s Wordle Answer for December 1st: Can You Guess the Color?
December 1st marks the start of a new month and a fresh challenge for Wordle players. As we enter the final stretch of 2024, it’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of the year. But, before we get caught up in the excitement of the holiday season and the turn of the year, let’s focus on today’s Wordle puzzle. This daily game has become an integral part of many people’s routines, offering a fun and often brain-teasing break. So, how do we solve today’s challenge?
For today’s Wordle, we have a helpful hint: the answer is somewhere between violet and pink. This is your clue to the color you’re trying to guess. Additionally, the word ends with a vowel, which gives you a slight advantage as you try to narrow down the possibilities. The puzzle, as usual, is a five-letter word, so with these two clues, you're already halfway there.

Now, let's talk about the strategy. When solving today’s Wordle, I began with the word "RAISE." I’ve found that starting with words that contain two vowels works best for me, and today was no exception. After my first guess, I knew I had the letters A and E in the correct spots, giving me a solid foundation with just 32 words remaining. From there, I went for a word that could eliminate as many possibilities as possible, which led me to try "GULCH." This guess was a game-changer, and after it, I was left with only two remaining possibilities: "MAUVE" and "TAUPE."
At this point, I must admit that "TAUPE" didn’t even cross my mind. It wasn’t until I analyzed my game with the Wordle Bot that I realized it could have been a potential answer, too. However, I went with "MAUVE," which turned out to be correct! The word "mauve," which refers to a soft, pale purple color, has an interesting history. It gets its name from the mallow flower (malva in Latin), whose blossoms resemble the color. The synthetic dye mauveine, discovered in 1856, was named after the flower because of the similar hue.
As for my score today, I earned one point for solving the puzzle in three guesses, and another point for beating the Bot, which took four tries. That’s two points in total for today—a nice little win to start the month!
So, if you’re still working on your Wordle, take these clues to heart and see if you can solve today’s puzzle. Remember, the answer is a color, and it falls somewhere between violet and pink, ending with a vowel. Happy guessing!
