TTC Subway Closures and Service Changes This Weekend in Toronto

If you're planning to use the TTC subway this weekend, be prepared for some significant service disruptions. The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has announced that several subway stations will be closed for essential track work. These closures, which will affect Line 1, stretch from St. Clair West to King stations. The disruption will take place on both Saturday and Sunday, and TTC riders are advised to find alternate routes during this time.

For those who rely on these subway stations, replacement shuttle buses will be in operation. These buses will stop at each station along the route, but some stations will remain closed, so make sure to plan your trip accordingly. If you're looking for additional accessibility options, Wheel-Trans buses will be running between St. Clair and Queen stations to assist customers who require support during this period.

The TTC’s efforts to upgrade infrastructure and keep things in a state of good repair require closures like these. Though most of the maintenance work is conducted overnight, weekend and early-week closures are sometimes necessary to complete critical projects. That said, these weekend closures are part of an ongoing commitment to improving the reliability and safety of the subway system.

Beyond the weekend closures, there will also be early evening shutdowns on Monday and Tuesday between St. Clair and Sheppard-Yonge stations. These early closures, which begin at 11 p.m., will also require shuttle buses to serve the affected stations. It’s important to note that Lawrence Station will be closed during these hours, while other stations will remain open.

In addition to the subway closures, streetcar service in the city’s west end will also face disruptions. Routes 505 Dundas and 506 Carlton will terminate at Lansdowne Avenue due to track work. Shuttle buses will take passengers to Dundas West Station and the High Park Loop.

Finally, if you're heading into the Etobicoke area, take note of the impact of the Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade. The parade, which starts at 10 a.m., will result in road closures between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., affecting multiple streets such as Dwight Avenue, Birmingham Street, and Lake Shore Boulevard West. Affected TTC routes in the area include 44 Kipling South, 110C Islington South, and 507 Long Branch.

So, whether you're taking the subway or streetcar this weekend, make sure to plan ahead. The TTC’s website and app provide real-time updates and detailed maps for affected routes, so stay informed to avoid any inconvenience.
