Gunfire Erupts Outside Queens Nightclub, 10 Wounded as Gunmen Open Fire

In a terrifying scene late Wednesday night, gunmen opened fire outside the Amazura nightclub in Jamaica, Queens, injuring at least 10 people. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the attack occurred around 11:18 PM when three to four males approached a group standing outside the venue, waiting to enter a private event. The assailants, believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, unleashed a barrage of about 30 shots. The victims, six females and four males, were struck by the gunfire and rushed to nearby hospitals. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening, and all victims are expected to survive.

The shooting occurred as roughly 90 people attended a private event inside the nightclub, which can hold up to 4,000 guests. At the time of the attack, there were about 15 people waiting outside to get in. As the gunmen fired upon the crowd, they also struck several vehicles nearby, before fleeing the scene in a gray sedan with out-of-state plates. Police have yet to make any arrests but are actively investigating the incident, which they suspect may be linked to gang activity. The NYPD has confirmed, however, that there is no connection to terrorism, despite the timing of the attack coinciding with a deadly terrorist incident in New Orleans on the same day.

Local authorities have vowed to bring those responsible to justice. Philip Rivera, the NYPD’s chief of transportation, expressed outrage at the senseless violence, stating, “There’s zero tolerance for these senseless shootings. These horrible acts of violence on our streets will not be tolerated.” He assured the public that law enforcement is working tirelessly to apprehend the suspects and hold them accountable.

While the shooting in Queens was undoubtedly shocking, it came just hours after a tragic act of terrorism in New Orleans, where a man drove a truck into a crowd, killing 15 people. As investigators work to piece together details of both events, the contrast between the two incidents serves as a grim reminder of the violent challenges cities across the U.S. continue to face. The Queens nightclub shooting, though not terror-related, highlights the persistent threat of gun violence in public spaces, leaving many concerned about the safety of large gatherings.
