Kyren Lacy, LSU Star, Wanted for Negligent Homicide and Hit-and-Run in Fatal Crash

The news surrounding Kyren Lacy, a former LSU football standout and NFL draft prospect, has taken a shocking turn. Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for the 24-year-old after he allegedly fled the scene of a fatal crash on December 17, 2024. Lacy is now wanted for negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle.

According to the police report, Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger on Louisiana Highway 20 when he recklessly passed several vehicles at high speed, crossing into the northbound lane in a no-passing zone. As Lacy swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle, a driver in a northbound Kia Cadenza took evasive action, which caused the car to cross the centerline. Tragically, the Kia Cadenza collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorento. A passenger in the Sorento, 78-year-old Herman Hall, a former Marine, was critically injured and later died from his injuries.

Rather than stopping to help or report the incident, Lacy allegedly drove away from the scene, leaving behind the wreckage and the injured victims. Authorities later identified Lacy as the driver of the Dodge Charger, and he is now facing serious charges. Along with negligent homicide, he is also accused of felony hit-and-run and reckless driving. Louisiana State Police have confirmed they are in contact with Lacy and his legal representation, encouraging him to turn himself in.

Lacy, a native of Thibodaux, Louisiana, had been a star wide receiver for LSU, leading the Tigers in receiving touchdowns during the 2024 season. Just two days after the crash, Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, cementing his status as one of the top wide receiver prospects. He had racked up impressive statistics over his five-year collegiate career, with 58 catches, 866 yards, and nine touchdowns in his final season with LSU.

In response to the allegations, Lacy’s agent, Rocky Arceneaux, stated that Lacy is fully cooperating with authorities. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and expressed hope that the truth would eventually come to light. As of now, Lacy remains wanted, and the legal process continues. LSU has declined to comment on the matter out of respect for the ongoing investigation. The situation has raised many questions, and all eyes are now on how this tragic incident will unfold.
