Ronald Acuña Jr. Shows His Intense Preparation for the 2025 MLB Season
Ronald Acuña Jr., the National League MVP of 2023, has been making significant strides in his recovery from the knee injury that sidelined him for most of the 2024 MLB season. Last year, the Atlanta Braves outfielder only played 49 games before being placed on the injured list, cutting short what could have been another impressive season. Despite the setback, Acuña Jr. has shown his commitment to returning stronger than ever, and recently shared a video of his progress as he gears up for the 2025 season.
Currently back in his native Venezuela, Acuña Jr. has been working diligently at his residence in Barquisimeto, where he trains at the academy of former major league player César Izturis. This is where Acuña Jr. has traditionally prepared for each season during the winter months. However, unlike in previous years, he did not participate in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) with the Tiburones de La Guaira, a team he has been a part of for the past two seasons. Instead, his focus has been entirely on rehabilitating his knee and preparing for the next MLB campaign.

Acuña Jr. is a strong contender to once again challenge for the MVP title, thanks to his unique blend of power and speed. In 2023, he made history by becoming the first player in MLB history to record 73 stolen bases and 41 home runs in a single season, leading to his well-deserved MVP award. This performance showcased his explosive ability both at the plate and on the base paths, solidifying him as one of the league’s most dynamic players.
Despite his stellar performance in 2023, reports suggest that Acuña Jr. might scale back his stolen base attempts in the future to preserve his health and avoid further injuries. With a focus on maintaining his physical condition and avoiding long-term setbacks, he aims to stay on the field for the full season and continue contributing to the Braves’ success. His dedication and hard work in his home country will undoubtedly set him up for a successful spring training and a healthy return to the diamond in 2025.
Fans and analysts alike are excited to see how Acuña Jr.’s recovery and preparation unfold. His resilience and commitment to his craft make him a player to watch in the upcoming season, and if he can stay healthy, he’ll be a key factor in the Braves' pursuit of another postseason berth.
